Prashant Kishor Makes Big Claim on Bihar CM Selection, Says BJP Leaders Will Decide Future Leadership

Prashant Kishor made a strong political statement on Bihar leadership, claiming that BJP leaders will decide the next Chief Minister and Nitish Kumar’s influence has declined significantly.
SAHARSA / Alam ki khabar:Political strategist-turned-leader and Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor has made a significant political statement regarding Bihar’s leadership dynamics, claiming that the decision on who will become the next Chief Minister of Bihar will not be taken by the Janata Dal (United), but by senior leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party. His remarks have once again stirred debate in the state’s already complex political landscape.
Speaking to the media in Saharsa, Prashant Kishor alleged that the real power to decide Bihar’s future leadership lies with two top BJP leaders, who will ultimately determine who gets projected as the Chief Minister face in the state. He further claimed that the party often promotes a public face who later functions merely as a “rubber stamp,” implying limited independence in decision-making.
Nitish Kumar’s role under question
In his statement, Prashant Kishor also made sharp remarks about Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, suggesting that his influence within the alliance has significantly weakened over time. He claimed that earlier, Nitish Kumar had the ability to take key decisions within the alliance framework, but according to him, that authority has now diminished considerably.
He further argued that if Nitish Kumar still held strong decision-making power, he would not have faced repeated political shifts or changes in his position within the state’s power structure. Kishor also stated that leaders within JD(U) are currently not in a position to strongly assert their views before the BJP leadership.
BJP’s strategy and leadership selection claim
Prashant Kishor alleged that the BJP follows a pattern of selecting leaders who are presented as strong public faces but operate under tight control of the central leadership. According to him, a similar political strategy could be seen in Bihar as well, where a prominent face may be projected, but the real decision-making authority would remain elsewhere.
These remarks come at a time when Bihar politics is witnessing renewed discussions over leadership equations and alliance dynamics ahead of future political developments in the state.
Comments on West Bengal politics
Expanding his remarks beyond Bihar, Prashant Kishor also commented on West Bengal politics. He claimed that the BJP is focusing on voter segments that were previously aligned with Left parties or migrated during the partition period. He alleged that welfare gaps created over time have become a political issue, which parties are now attempting to address through electoral promises.
He further stated that while debates around policies like CAA and NRC have been widespread across the country, the central focus in West Bengal politics remains on specific voter groups. According to him, a large section of Muslim voters in the state continues to support Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, making electoral outcomes dependent on the remaining undecided or shifting voter segments.
Political debate continues in Bihar
Prashant Kishor’s remarks have added fresh fuel to ongoing political discussions in Bihar, where alliance equations between BJP and JD(U) have often shifted in recent years. His statements are being seen as part of a broader narrative questioning internal power balance within the ruling alliance.
While supporters of different political parties may interpret his comments differently, the statements have once again highlighted the intense political activity and strategic positioning taking place ahead of future elections in the state.
