Patna, October 31, 2025:
The rain gods seem to have settled over Bihar once again. For the third straight day, showers have swept across the state, soaking cities from Patna to Gaya and beyond. In Gaya, the skies opened up with relentless downpour — 74.2 mm of rainfall recorded in the last 24 hours, marking the second consecutive day of heavy rain.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Patna, has forecasted more widespread rain for Friday, warning that all districts could experience showers — ranging from light drizzle to moderate rainfall. However, nine districts are under a heavy rain alert.

 Districts Under Watch

According to the IMD, Araria, Kishanganj, Supaul, Munger, and Banka are expected to witness very heavy rainfall, while Bhagalpur, Jamui, Darbhanga, and Madhubani could also face intense showers.
The department has also issued a thunderstorm and lightning alert for these regions, urging residents to stay indoors during heavy activity.

 Cyclone ‘Montha’ Behind the Change

The shifting weather pattern is being linked to Cyclone Montha, which has been moving northward across southern India. As of Thursday, the system reached eastern Madhya Pradesh and northern Chhattisgarh, triggering moisture flow and rainfall across Bihar.
The IMD predicts that light to moderate showers may continue on Saturday (November 1), though the intensity is likely to reduce.

 Temperatures Dip Across the State

The spell of rain has brought down temperatures noticeably.
Rajgir recorded the state’s highest temperature at 27°C, while Patna saw a significant dip — the mercury dropped 4 degrees from the previous day, settling at 24.8°C.
Late-night showers were also reported from several districts, keeping the air cool and crisp.

 Rainfall Highlights (Last 24 Hours)

Gaya: 74.2 mm

Nawada: 50.6 mm

Banka: 47.4 mm

Jamui: 33.2 mm

East Champaran: 22.2 mm

Munger: 18.2 mm

From heavy clouds over Gaya to steady drizzle in Patna, Bihar seems to be caught in a late-season rain cycle — refreshing for some, worrying for others.
For now, the skies remain grey, the air cool, and the forecast simple: carry an umbrella, just in case. ☔
