Patna / Danapur | October 30, 2025:As election fever grips Bihar, the political drama in Danapur has taken a tense turn. RJD MLA Ritlal Yadav, currently lodged in Bhagalpur jail, may be behind bars — but the heat of the campaign has reached his home. His wife, Rinku Kumari, has accused the police of harassment, intimidation, and misuse of power, claiming that she and her family are being threatened for campaigning in support of her husband.

Police Walk In, Cameras Record, Fear Follows”

Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Rinku Kumari said,
Police teams keep raiding my house — sometimes Bihar Police, sometimes central forces. They say I’m campaigning and threatening people for votes. They even tell my children, ‘If you’re 18, we’ll throw you in jail.’”
She added that CCTV footage captures these visits, and that the entire village is living in fear.
Even my brother is in jail, and now his kids are being threatened too,” she said, visibly shaken.

People Are the Real Masters Why Is Police Disturbing Them?”

Rinku questioned the intent behind the alleged police action:
When people are the masters in a democracy, why is the police interfering? Is contesting an election now a crime? Lalu Prasad Yadav trusted my husband, and he’s respecting the law — even after seven months in jail.”
She alleged that the administration’s behavior clearly shows “fear of the opposition’s growing support.”

 Who Is Ritlal Yadav?

Ritlal Yadav, the sitting RJD MLA from Danapur, is in jail for an alleged extortion case involving a builder. Despite his imprisonment, RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav has once again placed his faith in him by fielding him as the party’s candidate for the 2025 Assembly Elections.
The BJP, on the other hand, has fielded Ram Kripal Yadav, setting the stage for a fierce face-off between two seasoned rivals.

 A Battle Beyond the Ballot

In Danapur, the fight isn’t just for votes anymore —
it’s between a jailed leader’s family seeking justice and a system accused of flexing its muscle. As one villager murmured off-camera,If campaigning for your husband can land you in jail, what does that say about democracy in Bihar?”
