As Bihar heads toward the 2025 Assembly elections, a chilling wave of violence has once again rattled the state. Just a day after the sensational killing of Jansuraj supporter Dularchand Yadav in Mokama, another gruesome crime has surfaced — this time from Ara, where a father and son were found murdered early Friday morning (October 31, 2025).
The incident took place near Belghat village under the Muffasil police station area. The victims have been identified as Pramod Kumar (50) and his 18-year-old son Priyanshu Kumar, residents of Kasap village in the Udwantnagar police limits. The two ran a small sweets shop in their locality.
According to family sources, Thursday evening the duo had gone out to buy items for a wedding engagement ceremony scheduled for Friday — Priyanshu’s elder brother, Himanshu, was to be engaged that day. Around 7 p.m. Thursday, the family had their last phone conversation with them. Hours later, both were found dead nearly 20 kilometers away from home.
Preliminary reports suggest that both victims were shot dead, as police recovered an empty cartridge from the scene. The area has been sealed off, and a forensic team is conducting a detailed investigation.
SDPO Rajkumar Sah told the media that the case is not being linked to election rivalry at this stage. “An FSL team has been deployed, and a special task force is analyzing technical data to trace the culprits,” he said.
The motive, however, remains unclear — whether it was personal enmity, a business dispute, or something more sinister, investigators are still piecing together the puzzle.
This second major murder case within 48 hours of each other — first Mokama, now Ara — has raised serious questions about law and order in Bihar during the high-stakes election season. With every new killing, the demand for accountability grows louder, and the administration finds itself under increasing pressure to prove that democracy and safety can coexist on Bihar’s political battleground.
