Patna. In the heat of Bihar’s election campaign, former Chief Minister Rabri Devi has ignited a fresh political storm. Following the mysterious killing of RJD supporter Dularchand Yadav in Mokama, the political temperature in the state has shot up. Breaking her silence, Rabri Devi launched a sharp attack on the ruling NDA government, asking pointedly, “When the poor ruled, it was called jungle raj, but when murders and crimes happen under government protection, what should it be called now?” Her question has sent ripples across Bihar’s political circles.
Rabri Devi also opened up about her sons Tej Pratap Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav, making her position clear for the first time. “He (Tej Pratap) is my son by heart, but the party and family have distanced him. I won’t go for his campaign, but deep down, I want him to win. He’s standing on his own feet and has every right to work in Bihar,” she said. On the ongoing rift between the brothers, she remarked, “Disagreements can happen in any family, but blood relations never break. Those who don’t have a home of their own are the ones who try to create fights in others’ homes.”
Taking aim at Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Rabri Devi said, “When the poor started getting educated and began fighting for their rights, it was labeled jungle raj. But now when murders are happening openly in Mokama and Arrah, what should this be called?” She added, “We never make enemies, they do. I have full faith in Tejashwi—when he decides to do something, he does it. He proved it by his work in 17 months.”
Meanwhile, her daughter Rohini Acharya also slammed the BJP and NDA over the Mokama incident, saying, “Criminals are roaming freely under the protection of power, and anyone who stands up against them is crushed. How come tainted people become clean once they join the BJP? When will the girls of the Muzaffarpur shelter home get justice?” She further questioned, “You ruled for 20 years—what have you achieved? The people will answer you on November 14.”
Rabri Devi urged voters not to fall for “five kilos of ration” and empty promises. “Tejashwi has fulfilled what he promised. Every household will get a government job,” she said, dismissing the allegations of an M-Y (Muslim-Yadav) equation, adding, “During Lalu ji’s time, everyone got representation and respect, regardless of caste.”
Ending with her trademark punch, Rabri Devi said, “If crimes are rising today, then what’s this regime called now—Jungle Raj or Asaram Raj?” Her remark has once again set Bihar’s political battleground ablaze.
