Just five days before the first phase of the Bihar Assembly elections, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar released a video message on Saturday, addressing the people directly. In the video, he highlighted his government’s two decades of work and took a sharp dig at the opposition RJD, saying that under their rule Bihar had slipped into a state of jungle raj, while the NDA government restored law and order and ensured women’s safety. Nitish said, “Today women can walk freely even at night. This is the result of our efforts to make Bihar safer and stronger.” He added that the NDA government worked honestly and equally for all sections—Hindus, Muslims, backward, extremely backward, Dalits, and Mahadalits—without favoring any single family or caste.
The JD(U) chief said that once being called Bihari was considered an insult, but now it is a matter of pride. “We pulled Bihar out of the darkness of backwardness. Today the state has built a new image for itself,” he said. Attacking the Congress-RJD alliance, Nitish claimed that they did nothing for women, while the NDA government made them empowered and self-reliant.
The Chief Minister also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying that “The NDA governments at the Centre and in the state are working together to take Bihar to new heights of development. The pace of progress is now faster than ever.” Appealing to voters, Nitish urged, “Please come out and vote in large numbers. If we are given another chance, we will make Bihar one of the leading states in the country.”It is worth noting that voting for Bihar’s 243 Assembly seats will take place in two phases—on November 6 and November 11, while the results will be declared on November 14.
