The late-night arrest of JDU strongman and Mokama candidate Anant Singh has once again rattled Bihar’s political landscape. He was taken into custody by Patna Police on Saturday night in connection with the October 30 murder of Jan Suraaj worker Dularchand Yadav. The development has sent shockwaves through the state just days before the polls.
Reacting sharply, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav lashed out at both the state and central governments. He said, “The arrest was inevitable after what happened. Bihar is in a state of jungle raj, yet the Prime Minister turns a blind eye. Incidents are happening in Ara and Sasaram, and he still comes here for rallies—doesn’t he see the ‘maha-jungle raj’?”
Tejashwi further claimed, “The Mahagathbandhan is coming to power. Our government will take oath on November 18. Between November 26 and January 26, every criminal in Bihar—no matter what caste—will be behind bars.”
**Misa Bharti Hits Back at Nitish Government:**RJD MP Misa Bharti took a sharp dig, saying, *“This action wasn’t taken by the Bihar government, but because the Election Commission finally felt ashamed. The government has always protected Anant Singh, releasing him from jail before every election.”*She also criticized the PM’s roadshow, claiming, “For two days, small vendors and hawkers have been removed from their spots due to his visit.”
**RJD Spokesperson Mounts Attack:**Party spokesperson Mrityunjay Tiwari also targeted the JD(U)-BJP alliance, saying, *“This arrest is just an attempt to save face for the Nitish government. PM Modi will again play the same old ‘jungle raj’ tape today, but he must explain how Bihar has fallen into complete lawlessness under their rule.”*He added that Tejashwi Yadav had been continuously questioning the government’s silence.
Meanwhile, JDU responded cautiously, stating that “the law is doing its job, and politics has nothing to do with it.”
With this arrest just days before voting, Bihar’s political battlefield has turned tense once again—where law, power, and politics are all entwined like a coiled snake ready to strike.
