As Bihar Assembly elections heat up, the Samastipur district administration has gone into high alert to update the electoral roll for the Darbhanga Graduate and Teacher Constituency. District Election Officer-cum-DM Roshan Kushwaha has issued strict instructions to all Block Development Officers, Circle Officers, and designated officials to submit Form-18 and Form-19 in original to the District Election Office, Samastipur, by today (Saturday) without fail.
Issuing a firm warning, the DM made it clear that this task holds top priority — any negligence or delay will not be tolerated. Officials have been told to ensure both accuracy and timeliness in updating the voter list.

However, amid this administrative rush, a crucial question remains unanswered —
What arrangements have been made for disabled voters in the upcoming Samastipur Assembly election on November 6?
So far, the district administration has not released any clear guidelines or measures for persons with disabilities (PwDs). This comes despite the fact that in Patna, disabled voters were given the facility to cast their votes through postal ballots.

This raises a pressing concern —
Will disabled voters in Samastipur be deprived of their right to vote?
Or will the administration take last-minute action to ensure their participation?

For now, the district officials have remained silent. But one question echoes loud and clear —
When accuracy in the electoral roll is treated as a priority, shouldn’t the right to vote for the differently-abled be treated with the same seriousness?
