New Delhi: The investigation into the 10 November Delhi blast has taken a major turn after police discovered that the Hyundai i-20 car used in the explosion was registered in the name of Tariq, a resident of Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir. Officials say the car key carried the tag of a Faridabad-based automobile company, leading investigators to a used-car dealership located in Sector 37, just a few kilometres from the Delhi border.
According to sources, the dealership is being thoroughly examined by teams from the Delhi Police Special Cell and the National Investigation Agency (NIA). Documents related to the sale and ownership of the car are under scrutiny to trace how the vehicle reached Tariq’s possession. Preliminary inputs suggest the vehicle changed hands several times before being used in the blast.Following the explosion, Delhi has been placed under high alert. The police and security forces launched late-night search operations in busy areas like Paharganj, Daryaganj, Connaught Place, and surrounding neighbourhoods. Lodges and hotels were checked, registers were verified, and CCTV footage was collected to track suspicious movements. Four suspects have been detained for questioning, though no official arrests have been made yet.The case has been registered under the UAPA (Unlawful Activities Prevention Act).Investigators are now tracking Tariq and another suspect, Umar, to determine their movements before the incident. Intelligence inputs indicate the conspiracy may have roots beyond Delhi, possibly linking Pulwama and Haryana. Central intelligence units are also coordinating with local police to identify any sleeper network involved in the attack.Senior officials confirmed that forensic and digital evidence is being cross-verified and that the investigation may soon expand to other states. Security has been tightened at all major transport hubs and markets across Delhi as agencies continue their multi-state operation.
