Alam Ki Khabar | Protests in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir entered Day 30 as demonstrators alleged that dozens of bodies and injured protesters remain unaccounted for. Protest leaders intensified their criticism of the Pakistani administration while authorities have not publicly responded to the specific allegations.

Mass demonstrations in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) entered their 30th consecutive day on Thursday, with protesters once again taking to the streets over allegations that dozens of people killed or injured during recent clashes remain unaccounted for. The agitation, which began after violent confrontations in early June, has now evolved into one of the region's longest-running public protest movements in recent years.

According to the protest organizers, demonstrations have continued across several towns, including Rawalakot, where thousands of people gathered demanding information about those allegedly killed, injured and missing during the security operation that began on June 5.

Protest leaders claim that 59 people were killed and more than 218 others injured during the unrest. They further allege that only three bodies have been returned to their families, while the whereabouts of the remaining victims remain unknown. These figures and allegations have not been independently verified, and Pakistani authorities have not publicly confirmed them.

Another major issue raised by the protesters concerns the injured demonstrators. Organizers allege that many injured individuals were taken away from hospitals by security personnel and have remained out of contact with their families. Protest leaders claim they possess images showing injured protesters being transported by security forces following clashes in Rawalakot on June 15.

Speaking during Thursday's protest, one of the movement's key organizers, Sardar Aman Khan, said the agitation would continue until families receive information about the missing victims. He also criticized the administrative and judicial system in PoK, alleging that existing institutions have failed to provide justice or accountability.

The demonstrations continued throughout the day, with large gatherings occupying roads, public squares and protest venues. Protesters raised slogans calling for political reforms and demanded answers regarding those allegedly missing after the security operation.

At Rawalakot Bus Stand, another protest leader, Mohammad Arbab, accused security forces of using excessive force during the demonstrations and demanded that authorities immediately return the bodies of those who died and disclose the whereabouts of the missing individuals. He also called for the removal of security restrictions and curfews imposed in parts of the region.

The protest leadership has also warned that the deadline given to the Pakistani administration to respond to a 38-point charter of demands expires at midnight. Organizers say they will announce their next course of action if their demands are not addressed.

The allegations have further intensified political tensions in the region. Protesters claim that their movement is no longer limited to economic grievances but has expanded into a broader campaign demanding institutional reforms and greater accountability.

Pakistani authorities have not issued a detailed public response to the specific allegations regarding missing bodies or injured protesters. Independent verification of the protesters' claims remains unavailable at the time of publication.

Editorial Perspective

The situation in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir highlights the importance of transparency during periods of civil unrest. Allegations involving missing persons, deaths and the handling of injured protesters require credible, independent investigation. Until verified information is available from all sides, such claims should be treated with appropriate caution while ensuring that humanitarian concerns receive due attention.
