Patna:A high-level review meeting was held on Monday under the chairmanship of Bihar Chief Secretary Shri Pratyaya Amrit to accelerate the construction of the Tajpur–Bakhtiyarpur Ganga Bridge. Taking a tough stand on delays, the Chief Secretary made it clear that slow progress will not be tolerated under any circumstances. He instructed that work on all under-construction structures must start immediately and continuously.

To ensure direct monitoring, the Chief Secretary ordered that a weekly progress plan be prepared by the concerned department. This plan will include timelines, challenges, targets and a detailed action roadmap. He also announced that he will personally review the project every Monday, leaving no room for laxity.

The state government is pushing major bridge projects forward to fulfil the vision of Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Nitish Kumar—ensuring that people from any part of Bihar can reach the capital Patna within five hours. The Tajpur–Bakhtiyarpur Ganga Bridge is a key component of this vision, strengthening connectivity across the state.

Once completed, the new Ganga bridge will significantly reduce traffic load on Mahatma Gandhi Setu and Rajendra Setu. It is also expected to ease movement on the long corridor from Paradip (Odisha) to Nepal, boosting regional connectivity and driving economic as well as social growth.

The meeting was attended by Road Construction Department Secretary Dr. Sandeep Kumar R. Pudakalkatti, BSRDCL Managing Director Shri Tirsath Kapil Ashok, and other senior officials.
