A Bihar police constable was suspended after a shocking incident in Muzaffarpur where he allegedly pointed his service pistol at a shopkeeper during a dispute over just ₹4. The CCTV video has gone viral.
MUZAFFARPUR /Alam ki khabar:A shocking incident from Muzaffarpur in Bihar has triggered widespread public outrage after a police constable allegedly pointed his service pistol at a shopkeeper during a dispute over just ₹4. The entire episode, which was captured on a CCTV camera installed inside the shop, quickly went viral on social media, raising serious questions about police conduct and discipline within the force.
According to reports, the incident involved constable Deepu Kumar Pal, who was posted in the Motipur highway patrolling unit. His duty was assigned between Motipur and Chandni Chowk. After completing his shift, he reportedly visited the Siwaipatti area in plain clothes while carrying his service pistol. He had gone there to meet a friend and later stopped at a roadside pan shop near Neknam Chowk to have a glass of lassi.
Argument over a small payment escalates
What began as a routine stop soon turned into a heated argument when a dispute arose between the constable and the shopkeeper over a payment of just ₹4. Eyewitness accounts suggest that the disagreement escalated rapidly, and in a moment of anger, the constable allegedly lost control and pulled out his service pistol, pointing it directly at the shopkeeper. He also reportedly threatened the shopkeeper during the confrontation, creating panic among those present at the shop.
CCTV footage exposes the incident
Unaware that his actions were being recorded, the constable allegedly continued the confrontation while the entire incident was captured on the shop’s CCTV camera. Once the video surfaced online, it spread rapidly across social media platforms, sparking strong public reaction and criticism of police behavior. Many users questioned how a law enforcement officer could react so aggressively over such a minor issue.
Swift police action and suspension
As soon as the incident came to the notice of Senior Superintendent of Police Kantesh Kumar Mishra, an immediate inquiry was ordered. Following preliminary investigation, the allegations were found to be true, and the constable was suspended with immediate effect. Authorities also registered an FIR against him at Siwaipatti police station under relevant sections of law.
Accused constable absconding
Police officials further confirmed that efforts are underway to arrest the accused constable, who is currently absconding. Multiple search operations and raids are being conducted at possible locations, but he has not yet been apprehended. Authorities have stated that strict action will follow once he is taken into custody.
Senior police officials react
The SSP made it clear that such behavior is completely unacceptable, especially from a member of the police force entrusted with maintaining law and order. He emphasized that no one is above the law and strict disciplinary as well as legal action will be taken against anyone found guilty of abusing authority or misusing weapons.
Public outrage over incident
The incident has triggered anger among local residents and the general public, who have raised concerns over the conduct of law enforcement personnel. Many people have questioned how citizens can feel safe if those responsible for protecting them are seen engaging in such behavior over trivial disputes. The viral CCTV footage has further intensified demands for accountability and stricter monitoring within the police department.
Investigation continues
Police authorities have assured that a detailed investigation is underway and all aspects of the case will be thoroughly examined. The department has also initiated internal proceedings to review the conduct of the accused constable and ensure appropriate action is taken in accordance with service rules and legal provisions.
